stash diving

Stash Diving..... uhm wat?
Ik hou ontzettend van filmpjes kijken op Youtube hoe mensen kaartjes maken, scrapbooken, koken, mixed media schilderijen, art journals of Project life albums maken. ONTZETTEND kneuterig maar op het moment echt mijn favoriete tijdverdrijf. Zeker als de kids lekker aan het spelen zijn, of voor de drieduizendste keer Team Umizoomi aan het kijken zijn. Het zijn de momenten dat ik niet creatief bezig kan zijn, dus dan maar creatief kijken :D

In een nieuw kanaal wat ik gevonden heb hadden ze het over Stash Diving. Vrij vertaald, in je vooraan duiken! Aangezien mijn hele hobbykamer toch al op de schop lag en ik alles aan het uitzoeken was leek het mij wel een goed plan om er meteen een project van te maken. Eentje MET een deadline, anders komt er natuurlijk niets meer van terecht.

Het project werd kerstkaarten maken! Ik heb zo ontzettend veel kerstpapiertjes en stickertjes over van projecten uit het blad en restanten van de winkel, die krijg ik nooit opgescrapt:D Van Matthijs zijn geboorte kaartjes had ik ook nog een stapel witte vierkanten kaarten over, het enige wat gekocht moest worden waren enveloppen!

Inmiddels heb ik een hele mooie voorraad bij elkaar gezocht, en zelfs al een redelijk aantal kerstkaarten gemaakt. Uiteraard moet ik er nog ontzettend veel (grote familie) maar ik heb nog een goeie week voor de eerste kaarten de deur uit moeten en een goeie 3 weken voor de deadline ECHT over is. 1 probleempje is er wel ontstaan... Er zijn teveel spulletjes die ik TE leuk vind. Ik wil die niet gebruiken op kaarten, maar misschien wel een December Daily albumpje mee maken... Maar daar heb ik ECHT geen tijd voor... of toch wel?

T-shirts, superhelden en Peuters

Alles is so SUPER!!!!! 

tenminste dat wordt de hele dag door de grootste smurf gezongen. Hij weet ineens wie Batman is, hoe je liedjes zingt, hoe je op de wc plast en ook hoe je vooral niet in je bed moet plassen. Hij wordt groot onze kleine peuter.

Groter worden betekent ook een eigen willetje. Gelukkig voor mij wil hij vooral heel veel superhelden t-shirts, dus kon ik mij daar mooi op uitleven.

Spiderman zou het worden in zwart flock.. een mooi projectje om dat flock eens uit te proberen. Het is een spiderman in goud geworden :D . Met andere woorden flock en ik zijn nog geen vriendjes. (en bovendien ook op nu :()

Na spiderman wilde hij ook wel superman, die van de film. Na enige tijd zoeken op internet op superman kleurplaten kwamen we die van de lego tegen. de hysterie was groot hier! JAAAA MAMAAAA die is het! Ik wilde graag meerdere kleurtjes uit proberen, dus superman was een goeie optie daarvoor! Het is wel nog even stoeien met de software, maar ik vind hem geslaagd, en R ook!

Maar de kleine peuter zal geen peuter zijn als hij de volgende ochtend niet een nieuw shirt eiste! ditmaal batman. Ook die was van de lego film. Weer wat geleerd bij dit meneertje. Ik kan opgeslagen plaatjes op de machine wel vergroten, maar niet verkleinen! gelukkig moest deze op een polo en paste die net op zijn rug. R was er niet helemaal mee eens, maar het kon er mee door...

Nu op zoek naar nieuwe shirtjes en superhelden :D

Overigens is alles gesneden met Brother ScanNcut. Het materiaal is Flex. (Iron on vinyl). Ik heb mijn flex bij de groothandel vandaan en heet Filmfolie. Officieel enkel met de transferpers te gebruiken, maar de strijkbout werkt ook (wel hard drukken!!)

Project Life

Een van de goede voornemens die op mijn Doodle plaatje staat is het maken van Baby albums! Nou dat heeft wat voeten in aarde gehad. Ze zijn ook nog lang niet klaar, maar het begin is er!
Ik heb besloten om beide albums van de jongens in Project Life stijl te doen. De ideale combinatie tussen simpelweg foto's inplakken en scrapbooken. Beide jongens krijgen een album over hun eerste jaar.

Ik heb de albums van Becky Higgins gekocht, de gekleurde voor Robin en de gele streepjes voor Matthijs. (die hele leuke aqua kleurige heb ik dan weer niet:D).

Het hele jaar zijn we al bezig om alle foto op een server te krijgen. Dit is eindelijk gelukt. dus nu is het een kwestie van uitzoeken van de foto's, bestellen en aan de slag gaan. Alle kaartjes en stickers heb ik al bij elkaar gezocht.Voordat ik alles ging kopen heb ik eerst 2 paginaatjes gemaakt om te kijken of het wel wat is.. Nou dat is het wel! De kwaliteit van de foto's van deze pagina's zijn bagger, maar zo krijg je wel een ideetje hoe het eruit ziet. Omdat babyfoto's altijd wat raar van kleur zijn (met die blauwige en bloederige baby's haha) doe ik de eerste foto's in zwart/wit. De overige foto zullen gemixt worden met kleur en zwart/wit foto's.

Ook komen er enveloppen in met het eerste setje kleding, alle felicitaties van Facebook, het geboortekaartje, de krant/nieuws van de geboortedag en wat van de felicitatie kaartjes (daar moet ik nog iets voor verzinnen haha) Genoeg te doen dus!

Baby stuff:)

Even before baby's I knew I wanted to make a quilt with the first clothes. They idea came from my sister, who is planning this for years!

So when i was looking around to see what else I could cut with my ScanNcut, I found the clothes that where put away for the quilt. Since the machine cuts fabric like a charm I decided to give it a go!



I don't know the pattern yet, but because the clothes are so small all the squares are 10 cm plus seam allowance. Hopefully I have enough clothes, and I will start to make a pattern soon.
For now.


This is how my mat looks like (and I am loving it!) I wil be cutting fabric for a few day's. It's a slow process because this munchkin



Is sick AND will be 3 on Saturday and this little munchkin






Keeps me busy all day long:)

Luckely they both LOVE each other and it's so fun to watch.

Copic markers

I love to draw and color and i have copic markers at home, but never used it to color stamps.

I am not a stamper! I love to do it, but i am not good in it. So I am afraid to stamp on the actual project, but I also don't like cutting them out.

At CHA i learned that memento ink was the best ink for coloring with copics. So I bought a little one to bring back home.


What they didn't told was wich paper too use. I had some nice scraps of sturdy shiny thick card stock. The first stamped image looked fine! So I went ahead and stamped 15 of them (birthday invitations)


But when I came back to them for coloring they where al streaky and ugly. I still tried out coloring on them.



But also that looked streaky and not like the coloring I saw at the show...

So I tried a stamp on normal card stock, the inkt soaked right in leaving a crisp image, same as the copic, it blends perfect and the ink stay's in it place too!




So I have some new stamping to do and coloring and then tonight the ScanNCut is going to cut them out! Yay!

And I might actually really really like stamping (and coloring:-))

Patience....

Patience is not really my thing! I had to wait all day until the kids where in bed to go back to my new toy.

Today I decided to play with the brother Canvas software a bit. It only has 5 buttons and the translation to Dutch is kind of weird, but I am getting there! I hope there will be an option in the future to add any font to the software, but for this project I just used what's in stock:)

So our oldest will be 3 in just 2 weeks! Time to make some invitations. So I created this file with all 3's and his name all welded together to be the front of the card.
It cuts like butter! (And this time just the paper!! Not the mat hihi)

At this point it looks a bit boring, so I will tweak it, but I like the software so far (not to hard!) and how it cuts the paper. The low tack mat is really LOW tack, but somehow the paper stay's on there while cutting but also just pops up when you done! I like it!


Now I really need to get some sleep and if I am lucky I can work on this project tomorrow:)
Because this little Munchkin was a bit sick today... So fingers crossed he is better tomorrow :)

i got it!!!!

Yes! Today was The day that my ScanNCut came in the mail:) I am over the moon exited with this machine that I didn't know what to do first:-)







So I spend the whole afternoon reading the manual. And when the kids went to bed it was playtime for me!

Because my mom is a quilter I first wanted to try out the cutting fabric function. (Because everybody knows that your knives will be dull if you cut paper with it).







So there is an extra support sheet that comes with the blue machine. So you bassicly get three differant mats, a low tack mat, normal mat and fabric mat (because you stick the support sheet on one of the normal mats) if your are using the support sheet you don't have to put anything on your fabric. Worked liked a charm!
There are quilt block patterns inside the machine, you pick one, draw the quidelines on the back and cut them out!












Now of course I first should have ironed the fabric, and you still have to sew them into a block, but the part that I hate about quilting is done for me! (Measuring, cutting etc!).
I can now see myself cut up the baby clothes and make some fun blocks with to make a blanket (there is a chevron block pattern in there! I repeat there is a CHEVRON pattern in there!!) because I don't have to measure stuff out:-)

Next I tried some stamped images.






They are cut out very accurate! Very surprised that it even did the monkey because I heard that the lines need to be at least 3 mm thick! It worked very nice!

Next was the project I head in mind when I ordered the machine! To make a t-shirt appliqué for my oldest from felt. So I did!
I am loving the iron on backing that came with the machine. It keeps the fabric and felt very soft. It is a bit hard to tell witch side is the shiny side. (I had multiple glue stains on my iron hihi)
Then I choose my design, made a test run, thought that it didn't cut trough the felt, so I changed some settings and went ahead....







Well it did cut trough! All the way trough the mat!! Oops. After removing all the pieces I saw that even the first test run I made it cut trough the mat. And that where the settings from the book.











So if you are making test runs, make sure you take your felt/fabric/paper etc off the mat to see what it did! Lesson learned here. Need to order a new mat!











But the felt was cut very nicely and I am extremely happy with it! (Because I have a boatload of felt!)

Ooo my! At the CHA 2014 I saw this "tool" in real life action! I heard about it before so the Brother booth was on my list.

Maybe it was better to not go:-) that machine can do so many things! And really the possibilities are endless! Everyday there are new videos on YouTube and every day I am amazed on the possibilities.

So what is it? It's an electronic cutting machine that doesn't need an computer of cartridges... So what do you cut out if it has no computer or cartridge? You scan in your design, and he makes a cutting file out of it! Then you can store your designs on the machine or USB drive. It's that simple!

Besides the fact that if cuts trough fabric without backing, felt, leather etc I thought that is pretty cool! I am getting mine tomorrow!!!!

First copy card

Tonight I was sorting out my paper and I finally reached an empty desk! Time for a little surfing on the Internet and then off to bed!

I went to Kristina her blog to see if she already posted a new card, and guess what? She did:)

A one layer card with just some embossing and stamping. I know where my stamps and cuttle bug and inks are! I decided to copy this pretty card



The embossing didn't worked for me, I had a square card and couldn't figure out how to get just the middle to be embossed wit the cuttlebug. (I even needed to google how to emboss with the cuttlebug! I know... It's sad)

So this is what I made with my supplies;



I already discovered that a; my inks aren't that good or a wide variety and B: I definitely need more word stamps :)
But, not allowed to by any stuff, I just have to get creative with other stuff if I want to say something different then Thanks on my cards:)

For a first attempt in years, not bad, but then I had a really fun card to copy!

Now, off to bed! I have a cookie workshop tommorow
